How to Connect Discord to World of Warcraft

Before You Start

• World of Warcraft Patch 12.1 (Curse of Ula'tek) or later.
• A Discord account that is already signed in through your browser or Discord app.
• For a guild-chat bridge: membership in the Discord server and a WoW guild rank with the required permissions.

Link Your Battle.net and Discord Accounts

   Open the game menu

   Log into World of Warcraft and press Esc.

   Open Options

   Select Options from the game menu.

   Choose Social

   Open the Social tab.

   Enable Discord

   Turn on Enable Discord Functionality.

   Start the connection

   Choose to connect your account and follow the confirmation screens.

   Confirm in Discord

   Approve the connection on Discord's side. Sign into Discord first so the flow does not stall at a login prompt.

Choose Your Display Name

During setup, choose which name is attached to messages that arrive in game from Discord.

If guildmates know you by your main's name rather than your Discord handle, Last Online Character Name is usually the clearest option.

For Guild Leaders and Officers

1. Check Discord permissions

A Discord administrator must ensure the channel grants all three permissions below, or it will not appear as linkable in game.

• Manage Channels
• View Channel
• Send Messages

2. Link the channel inside WoW

   Open Guild & Communities

   Press J and select the Roster tab.

   Open Guild Settings

   Choose Guild Settings at the bottom-right of the panel.

   Open Discord Settings

   Select Discord Settings from the Guild Control dropdown.

   Choose a server

   Select one of the Discord servers shown in the list.

   Choose a channel

   Pick a channel with the required permissions and complete the link.

3. Decide where Discord traffic lands

Discord traffic can flow into regular /guild chat or a dedicated /discord channel. A dedicated channel keeps raid-night guild chat from being buried, but members need to watch a second chat tab.

Using the Bridge Day to Day

• Messages indicate whether they came from Discord or from inside the game.
• Chat tabs can separate or combine bridged traffic like any other channel.
• The bridge works both ways: Discord messages appear in game and guild messages appear in Discord.

Troubleshooting

Discord functionality is missing

Update World of Warcraft through the Battle.net launcher and confirm the client is on Patch 12.1 or later.

The link flow never completes

Sign into Discord first, then restart the connection from the Social tab.

The guild channel is missing

Have a Discord administrator verify Manage Channels, View Channel, and Send Messages, then reopen Discord Settings in game.

Messages appear in game but not Discord

Complete the personal account-linking steps so Discord can attribute the in-game messages.

Discord chatter is overwhelming guild chat

Ask an officer to route the bridge into /discord instead of /guild, then place it on its own chat tab.
