Midnight Season 2 Mythic+ โ€” Complete Overview

The eight-dungeon pool and timers, the affix ladder from +2 to +12, all four Xal'atath's Bargain variants, and the item level table with the three sensible stopping points.

Midnight Season 2 brings a fresh eight-dungeon Mythic+ rotation, one brand new three-boss dungeon in Altar of Fangs, three legacy returns, and a set of system changes aimed squarely at taking pressure off tanks and healers. This guide covers the pool and timers, the affix ladder from +2 to +12, what actually changed this season, the full item level and crest table, and where the sensible stopping points are for gearing versus pushing.

โš” The Season 2 Dungeon Pool

Eight dungeons: one new, four returning Midnight dungeons that sat out Season 1, and three legacy dungeons pulled from older expansions.

Midnight Dungeons

  • Altar of Fangs โ€” brand new in Patch 12.1, and a three-boss dungeon rather than the usual four or five.
  • Murder Row
  • Den of Nalorakk
  • The Blinding Vale
  • Voidscar Arena

Legacy Dungeons

  • King's Rest โ€” returning from Battle for Azeroth
  • Temple of Sethraliss โ€” returning from Battle for Azeroth
  • Ruby Life Pools โ€” returning from Dragonflight

โฑ Dungeon Timers

Dungeons must be completed inside the timer to earn Mythic+ rating and full loot from the end-of-run chest.

๐Ÿ”ง What Changed for Season 2

Blizzard published their design philosophy going into Season 2. Four changes matter in practice:

  • Clearer cone and line telegraphs. Cone and line abilities got updated precast visuals matching the swirly-visual style introduced in The War Within. Fewer deaths to abilities you could not see.
  • Higher creature health pools. Deliberately shifting emphasis toward target prioritization and damage checks, and away from the immediate tank and healer pressure that defined earlier seasons.
  • Per-dungeon pain points addressed. Faster roleplay events, boss mechanic reworks, and similar cleanup across the whole pool.
  • Enemy Forces on tooltips. Mob tooltips now show how much each enemy contributes to the count. Routing no longer requires an addon to be readable.

๐Ÿ’ซ The Affix Ladder

Affixes are added or replaced as keystone level rises, up to +12.

Keystone LevelAffix Change
+2Lindormi's Guidance becomes active
+5Xal'atath's Bargain (rotating weekly) becomes active
+6Lindormi's Guidance is removed
+7Fortified or Tyrannical, alternating weekly
+10Both Fortified and Tyrannical active
+12 and upXal'atath's Bargain is replaced by Xal'atath's Guile

Lindormi's Guidance (+2 to +5)

The training-wheels affix. It highlights and weakens certain enemies with Temporal Sands, reducing their health and damage done by 5%, and it removes the player death penalty entirely โ€” deaths no longer subtract from the dungeon timer.

At +6 it falls off. Tanks who still want the highlighting can speak to Lindormi near The Timeways portal in Silvermoon City, or at the end of a keystone dungeon, to gain Lindormi's Glow. Glow highlights enemy forces but does not weaken them โ€” it is guidance only.

Fortified and Tyrannical

  • Fortified โ€” non-boss enemies gain +20% health and +20% damage done.
  • Tyrannical โ€” bosses gain +25% health and +15% damage done.

They alternate weekly at +7; at +10 and above both are always active. Check which one is up at +7 in the Group Finder menu under the Mythic+ Dungeons tab.

Xal'atath's Guile (+12 and up)

Replaces the Bargain affix. Every death subtracts 15 seconds from the remaining time, up until the last minute.

๐Ÿ”ฎ Xal'atath's Bargain โ€” All Four Variants

From +5, one of four Bargain affixes is active, rotating weekly. All four follow the same contract: handle the mechanic and the group gets a buff for 30 seconds; fail it and enemies get more damage and damage reduction for 20 seconds.

Xal'atath's Bargain: Ascendant

Roughly once a minute, Xal'atath summons 10 Orbs of Ascendance casting Cosmic Ascension. Stop the casts with interrupts, crowd control, displacement or purges. Each cast stopped grants bonus Haste and movement speed for 30 seconds.

Xal'atath's Bargain: Voidbound

A Void Emissary spawns and channels Dark Prayer onto nearby enemies. Break its shield with damage before the cast completes. Success grants increased Versatility and ability cooldown rate for 30 seconds; failure buffs enemies in proportion to the shield remaining.

Xal'atath's Bargain: Pulsar

Void Pulsar orbs tether and orbit each player for 15 seconds. Players must intercept each other's orbs by walking into them before the timer expires. Each orb intercepted grants increased Mastery and Leech for 30 seconds.

Xal'atath's Bargain: Devour

Devouring Rift places a shield on all five players and slows their movement for 15 seconds. Remove it with healing done or any dispel type โ€” Magic, Poison, Decurse, all count. Removing a shield grants Rift Essence: increased Critical Strike and maximum health for 30 seconds.

The Three Stopping Points

  1. +9 โ€” the first level that awards Myth Mistcrests. If you are farming upgrade currency and nothing else, this is the cheapest key that does it.
  2. +10 โ€” the gearing sweet spot. Maximum Great Vault item level (318, Myth 1/6) and Myth crests, without needing to beat Xal'atath's Guile.
  3. +12 โ€” gear drops are capped here. Beyond +12 you are running for rating, Resilient Keystones, or achievements only.

Great Vault Dungeon Row

Mythic+ runs fill the Dungeons row. Completing eight Mythic+ dungeons in a week maximises the choices offered.

๐Ÿ”‘ Resilient Keystones

Time every Season 2 dungeon at keystone level 12 or higher to earn Midnight Season 2: Resilient Keystone 12. That achievement prevents your keystone from dropping below 12 when you deplete a run.

The achievement exists at every level from +12 upward โ€” time all eight at +13 and your key will never drop below 13, and so on. You can still lower a keystone deliberately by talking to Lindormi in Silvermoon City.

๐Ÿ† Seasonal Rewards

  • Breath of Blight โ€” tied to Midnight Keystone Master: Season 2.
  • Breath of Ruin โ€” tied to Midnight Keystone Legend: Season 2.
  • Resilient Keystone achievements at every level from +12 upward.
