Patch 12.1 Profession Changes & New Recipes

Curse of Ula'tek is a light profession patch rather than an overhaul — but it contains one genuinely significant change: a one-time Knowledge Point reset per Midnight profession, letting you undo specialization choices made before you knew how the trees played out. Alongside that are two new gathering materials tied to a temporary curse mechanic, a batch of new recipes (a lot of them housing decor), several new embellishments, and a meaningful fishing expansion. This guide covers all of it.

🔄 The Knowledge Point Reset

This is the headline change. In Patch 12.1 you can reset your Knowledge Points — but only once per Midnight profession. The reset refunds every point you've spent and lets you re-path that profession's specialization trees from scratch. It's a returning feature from The War Within; until now, everything you spent in Season 1 was locked in permanently.

How to Do It

1. Travel to Silvermoon City and find Theremis, who stands in the Bazaar near the crafting order table.
2. Talk to him and choose which profession you want to reset.
3. He refunds every point spent in that profession, and you re-allocate them however you like.

⛏ New Gathering Materials

Two new materials arrive in 12.1, and both are gated behind the same temporary curse mechanic — you can only collect them while an area is actively cursed. Defeating one of the elite Cursed Surge enemies on the Coiled Isle flips that location into Cursed Land and Waters, and that window is the only time these materials appear. Neither is tied to a normal ore or herb node; you collect the material itself.

✨ New Embellishments & Enchants

The player-power additions this patch are concentrated in embellishments and one weapon enchant. These are the entries worth caring about if you're crafting for raid or Mythic+ rather than decorating a house.

🔨 New Recipes by Profession

Most new recipes come from Zul'jarra's Forces Renown, profession trainers, world drops, or the new fishing loot. A large share are housing decor rather than gear. Costs below are given where a published figure exists; several vendor prices weren't reliably documented at time of writing.

Alchemy

• Concentrated Silvermoon Health Potion — a stronger health potion, the new best option for raid and Mythic+. From Jan'sari the Watchful at Zul'jarra's Forces Renown 5 (150 Artisan Alchemist's Moxie).
• Liquid Luster — a stacking Versatility potion. From Skull of Er'inye in the Vaults of Atal'Utek (2,500 Corrosive Coin plus 150 Moxie).
• Alluring Nostrum — chance to deal Shadow damage to your target and nearby enemies, but applies a stacking slow to you. From Second Mate Sluggs on the Coiled Isle (150 Moxie).
• Ersatz Venom Splatter — housing decor. From Construct V'anore in Silvermoon City.

Blacksmithing

• Odious Alloy — a new alloy crafted from Umbral Tin Ore, Luminant Flux, and Refulgent Copper Ingot.
• Hunter's Ritual Stone — see embellishments above.
• Amani Forgemaster's Workbench — housing decor, from Jan'sari at Renown 5 (150 Artisan Blacksmith's Moxie).
• Amani Forgemaster's Decorative Spear and Amani Forgemaster's Rack — housing decor, obtained from the Thalassian Recipe in a Bottle fishing drop, or bought on the Auction House.

Cooking

Two new salvage recipes, Plant Protein and Practically Pork, break down the new meats and plant parts dropping in the Coiled Isle zones into cooking ingredients — the same pattern as Thalassian Fillet for fish. Both come from the trainer.

Enchanting

• Enchant Weapon — Rite of the Hash'ey — see embellishments above.
• Keen Hex Mask — housing decor, from Jan'sari at Renown 5 (150 Artisan Enchanter's Moxie).
• Furious Tiki Mask — housing decor, from Construct V'anore at Preyhunter's Journey rank 2.

Engineering

• Coiled Snake-Eye — see embellishments above.
• G-00 — a loot-collecting bot (a new Loot-a-Rang-style item). Source not confirmed at time of writing.
• R0cky-To-Go — a consumable reducing falling speed for 2 minutes.
• R0CKY — a helmet enchant deployable glider (2-minute duration, 3-minute cooldown).
• Aetherlume Field Lamp — housing decor.

The R0cky items and the Field Lamp all come from the Thalassian Recipe in a Bottle fishing drop, or the Auction House.

Jewelcrafting

• Refine Crystalline Glass — upgrades 10 rank 1 Crystalline Glass into 1 rank 2. Trainer (skill 50).
• Refine Duskshrouded Stone — upgrades 18 rank 1 Dusk-Shrouded Stone into 1 rank 2. Trainer (skill 50).

Leatherworking & Tailoring

• Adorned Fang (LW) and Snakeskin Lining (Tailoring) — see embellishments above.
• Mounted Moby — housing decor, from Second Mate Sluggs at "Cursed Angler" rank with Captain Tokka's Crew (150 Artisan Leatherworker's Moxie).
• Stretched Snakeskin Rack — housing decor, from the Thalassian Recipe in a Bottle fishing drop or Auction House.
• Tortollan Slingsack — housing decor, from Navigator Otoola (750 Voidlight Marl).
• Pattern: Flat Snakeskin Canopy — housing decor, from Jan'sari at Renown 5.

🎣 Fishing Updates

Fishing gets the most substantial expansion of any profession this patch: new venomous pools on the Coiled Isle with zone-specific fish, a new currency (Coiled Filament), new achievements, and a new fishing pole with unique interactions.

The Coiled Huntress is the centerpiece: fishing with it on the Coiled Isle earns +1 Venom per successful catch, and bringing the envenomed pole to Seasage Polo at Tokka's Folly cleanses it, converting each stack of Venom into 1 Coiled Filament. That currency is what buys the Sea-Dwelling Isle Serpent mount and the Envenomed weapon transmog set.
